Officials: COVID-19, pre-existing conditions, contributed to Michigan infant death

FLINT, Mich – Mid-Michigan NOW is learning from the Milwaukee County, Wisconsin Medical Examiner a two-month-old Upper Penninsula Michigan infant died from “complications of gastroschisis. ” According to the CDC Gastroschisis is a birth defect of the abdominal (belly) wall. The baby’s intestines are found outside of the baby’s body, exiting through a hole beside the belly button.
