Adam Levine Looks Back on Kelly Preston Teaching Him How to ‘Movie Kiss’

The two stars worked together on the set of Maroon 5’s video for “She Will Be Loved.”

Adam Levine shared fond memories of working with Kelly Preston in Maroon 5’s early days on The Howard Stern Show Tuesday (Sept. 15).

During the interview, the Maroon 5 frontman revealed the late actress taught him how to kiss for the camera on the set of the 2002 music video “She Will Be Loved,” which he called “one of those isolated, beautiful experiences” in life.

“Right as we do it, I just kiss her, kiss her. I didn’t know what a movie kiss was. I wouldn’t say I jammed my tongue down her throat, but I would say I gave her a real French kiss,” Levine told Stern of locking lips with Preston for the video

“I’ll never forget it as long as I live; I wish I could see the reel of it,” he continued. “I go in to kiss her and she’s like, ‘Woah! Woah! Woah! Woah! Woah! Woah, cowboy.’ I was like, ‘What did I do?’ She’s like, ‘You don’t use the tongue.'”

In the visual, Levine led the narrative by dating a young woman, but ends up falling for her mother, who was played by Preston as the older love interest. However, the pair’s working relationship apparently didn’t extend past the video shoot.

“The video wound up becoming this classic video that everyone loves,” Levine concluded. “I never got to speak to her about it. Life goes on and, obviously, we never crossed paths again.”

Preston died in July at the age of 57 following a two-year battle with breast cancer.
